the is called the definite article. In Spanish, again, there are four options based on gender and number.
el, la, los, and las
So el is the masculine singular; la is the feminine singular; los is the masculine plural; and las is the feminine plural.
So using the previous examples, we're going to look at how to say "the man", "the women", "the cars", and "the flower."
Hombre is singular and masculine, so it uses 'el'.
Mujeres, plural feminine, 'las'
coches, plural masculine, so it uses 'los'
flor, singular feminine, so it uses 'la'
